Hummus

I was craving hummus since last week and I finally decided to make some. I always make my own that way I can add all the spices I like. I had my hummus with carrots and apples, you can have them with pita bread or tortilla chips as well.

Hummus Recipe

1 can chickpeas

1 clove garlic

1 lemon juiced

½ cup tahini

½ - 1 tsp salt

3 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp cumin powder

½ tsp smoked paprika

3-4 tbsp water

Instruction:

  • In a food processor or high speed blender, combine the lemon juice and garlic and salt, process until finely chopped.

  • Add the tahini and blend the mixture until creamy, if the mixture is too thick add 2 tbsp of water.

  • Add cumin, paprika and chickpeas and blend, drizzle olive oil over to form a creamy texture, add more water if necessary.

  • Taste and adjust as necessary, I find that I always have to add a bit more salt.

  • Serve in a serving bowl, garnish with cilantro, olive oil and paprika, this step is totally optional.

  • Left over can be store in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
