I was craving hummus since last week and I finally decided to make some. I always make my own that way I can add all the spices I like. I had my hummus with carrots and apples, you can have them with pita bread or tortilla chips as well.
Hummus Recipe
1 can chickpeas
1 clove garlic
1 lemon juiced
½ cup tahini
½ - 1 tsp salt
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp cumin powder
½ tsp smoked paprika
3-4 tbsp water
Instruction:
In a food processor or high speed blender, combine the lemon juice and garlic and salt, process until finely chopped.
Add the tahini and blend the mixture until creamy, if the mixture is too thick add 2 tbsp of water.
Add cumin, paprika and chickpeas and blend, drizzle olive oil over to form a creamy texture, add more water if necessary.
Taste and adjust as necessary, I find that I always have to add a bit more salt.
Serve in a serving bowl, garnish with cilantro, olive oil and paprika, this step is totally optional.
Left over can be store in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
